As part of its visual identity construction, the 2023 calendar dedicates each month to one of the product categories available at the Benicarló Central Market. As stated in its introduction, the wall calendar was designed by collage as a way of dramatising the great variety of products/services that the market offers; added to the personal use that each customer makes of these products: no two ways of preparing fish or lentils are the same.
This visual language of collage also implies a way of doing things patiently, by hand, with time and knowledge, in the same way as the people who offer their services with this care.
In addition to the aesthetic value of the pages, it was important for users to find them easy to use, to find dates easily and to have enough space to write in between them any data of importance to each user: we reserved a third of the format for this, giving space to the base of the compositions and serving as a contrast to the more free and spontaneous compositions by its order and cleanliness.
Finally, there was a directory / floor plan of the place to facilitate the location of the commercial stands, as well as their contact details for easy access to order via telephone or digital ordering, which after the COVID-19 pandemic became popular among its users.
A closer look at the compositions reveals the care for detail, the realism that the manual process ended up distilling within them and the intention that each collage should allow for small discoveries in its composition, as the days pass in which each month is exhibited.
The production process respected a rhythm and logic coherent with the collage, when it came to creating each composition, which, although they are totally different, maintain a common thread that gives unity to the whole. These compositions were photographed and digitally treated to complete each month.
For its release, a campaign was designed inviting people to buy a calendar for a minimum purchase at the market.
